San Anselmo

The charming town of San Anselmo has become a crossroads if not a center of activity because of its comfortable lifestyle,  community life, award-winning public and private schools and glorious weather. The beauty and climate of  Ross Valley is one of the most desirable locations in Marin County. The history of this area has helped shape the character of the community that it is today.

The ideal downtown offers annual festivals and parades, several parks and a wide variety of restaurants and shops for everyone's taste and style.  The surrounding open space offers hiking and biking trails to your hearts desire.

San Anselmo residents frequent the nearby Phoenix Lake Trail, a serene and shady loop around a reservoir rife with wildlife. In town, Memorial Park has a peaceful garden and the kid-designed Millennium Playground. The grounds of the San Francisco Theological Seminary, founded in 1871, make for an inviting stroll with the stone “castles on the hill” and a view of Mt. Tamalpais.

Imagination Park:Fans of the “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” franchises will want to visit the Yoda and Indiana Jones statues. (George Lucas is a longtime resident of the town.)
Six years after filmmaker George Lucas donated Imagination Park to a San Anselmo charity, that charity has offered to give the park to the town.

According to Sean Condry, the town’s public works and building director, the donation comes as visitation at the popular park continues to increase. Town staff members have taken on a share of the maintenance duties and, because the property is adjacent to Town Hall, have watched over it.
The park features bronze statues of iconic characters from Lucas’ films, including Yoda and Indiana Jones. Lucas, a longtime San Anselmo resident, donated the land for the park to the San Anselmo Community Foundation in 2013. He paid to raze an existing building on the site, at 535 San Anselmo Ave., and paid for the bronze statues.
